- The Self Supported Ironman Distance Network

So I went on a short ride tonight with tri-rob and we decided we would do a full self supported Ironman about this time next year in bend Oregon, I have an open water swim location and great road route and trail run for the finish. just thought i would throw out , so if anyone looking to join next year keep in mind that time frame for training.....a good follow up to the Pacific crest half ironman

how about this????? swim in Crater lake ( I just checked and its legal) to Wizard island and back( about 1 mile) and then ride around the rim , a 33 mile ride that will take you about 4 hours cuz its hard and then a trail run???? not a full distance but a crazy fun hardcore day??? I am thinking mid summer.....put it on the list!!!! water is really cold so wetsuits a must. check out the pic:

I don't know if this was part of your thinking too but I think it'd be cool to try to get anybody and everybody to plan on a Self-supported 140.6 or 70.3 for those of us that aren't ready for the big dog. Maybe lay out some ground rules so everybody is on the same page plus the long lead time would give everybody the opportunity to determine if it'll work and where they can get the distances in. I think I could probably get some friends into it and anybody else up for it here in Phoenix, kind of like a nationwide IM all in our respective locations and then discuss from there. I don't know if that makes sense but it's a race we can all do the same day, maybe start times will differ a bit, but the setup will be the same. Thoughts? I'd love to go to Oregon but thought this was a little more realistic for me. Everybody posts their routes and transition plans, support, and number of racers involved. Just a thought.

ok so will set up a half iron course. as this will be better for my training for IM Idaho in 2009. I will set it up for double loops if you really want to do a full ironman. I have been off posting at triscoop.com and was out for a bit with knee injury but getting back fast so we are still on for August.....!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that Aug 17th I will be doing a weekend mountain bike festival so likely the week or two after that

YES! I was hoping that this was still on! I'll be talking to Matt... I know he doesn't want me doing the full... at least not the run portion... I'll probably do the full swim and bike and then take on the role of "Super Support Rob". Lemme know if you need any help as things roll along Drew! Hurry up and heal!

Man! I'd so much rather do an IM in oregon than in crappy old Flori-turd with a dude I already beat by at least 1%. Can I drag the Jetsack up there?
