I did it, my first self supported Half Ironman, I called it Solo Man 70.3, I even designed a Logo and printed some shirts. I started at the YMCA pool for the swim, I did 2000 meters just for good measure in 45:31. T1 took longer than I had hoped but it involved getting out of the Y and to the parking lot, getting my bike out of the Jeep etc, I also changed clothes before I left the locker room, anyway it took 9:22. From here I rode to the Richland B&O bike trail (
http://cyclingohio.com/main/page_rails_to_trails_b__o_trail.html) Its vary flat and nicely paved, I did the remainder of the Bike leg and the run on this trail, The bike leg was 2:49:24. T2 1:13, the Run was vary slow 2:30:05, this was because the temperature and humidity were both approaching 90, while those of us in Ohio are quite used to the humidity, we don’t get a chance to train in 90 degree weather vary often. Even though my wife Teresa rode her bike along with me on the run leg carrying a supply of cold water to pour on my head it wasn’t enough to keep cool but I finished in 6:17:21 and was vary happy with this result under these conditions.
